Resident Evil 7 PC Demo Now Available On Steam

Capcom releases Resident Evil 7: biohazard demo for PC players; systems specs also revealed, and Denuvo anti-tamper confirmed

Resident Evil 7 promises to be a return to form for the legendary franchise. And with the launch ever so close, Capcom finally released a playable demo for the game on the PC. Titled ‘Beginning Hour’, the demo introduces the new and, hopefully improved mechanics of this latest Resident Evil. The game is largely different from past Resident Evil titles, and borrows heavily from the likes of P.T. and Outlast. Note that the game’s demo is already available on Xbox One and PS4.

Capcom also revealed the system specifications for the game. It is one thing that PC players most look forward to, before a game’s launch. It both lets them know if their system is up to the task, as well as serving as an indication that the game is on course for release. Following requirements are listed by Capcom for Resident Evil 7 – biohazard:

  • Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 (64-bit)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 @ 2.70 GHz OR AMD FX 6300
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 OR AMD Radeon R7 260x
  • DirectX: Version 11

(These target 1080p/30fps)

  • Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 (64-bit)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40 GHz OR AMD FX equivalent
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Graphics Card: TBA (4 GB VRAM)
  • DirectX: Version 11

(These target 1080p/60fps)

In addition to these details, we’ve also found the available graphics options in the game, via NeoGAF. Apparently, the game will have NVIDIA-specific settings like HBAO+. This means that Gameworks will be featured, albeit in a small capacity.

Finally, the anti-tamper software Denuvo is also set to grace the game’s retail version. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, at this point. Every AAA title is expected to have Denuvo, for its still admirable track record of keeping pirates at bay for months, if not years. Even though some Denuvo titles have been cracked, most are still enjoying a piracy-free ride.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard releases for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on January 24. The game is also getting a PS4 Pro release, which Capcom has claimed to be ‘almost photorealistic.’
